National Food and Beverage Procurement Strategy Renewal - 2023 

Toronto, ON - Public Services and Procurement Canada, Procurement Directorate Ontario is launching a national process to seek feedback and recommendation from food and beverage industry with regards to the National Food and Beverage Procurement Strategy (NFBPS) renewal. The NFBPS was established by Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) to provide guidance and policy direction in meeting Government of Canada food and beverage requirements, while enhancing access for suppliers and increasing value to Canadian taxpayers. PSPC Ontario region is leading and managing the NFBPS on behalf of government departments across Canada. The estimated annual expenditure associated with the Contracts and Standing Offers is $100 million dollar based on the estimate from major government departments in 2022. 

 

On December 5, 2023 from 1:00 pm EST to 2:30 pm EST, Canada will host an “Industry Engagement Day” virtually to present an overview of the National Food and Beverage Procurement Strategy. This Industry Engagement Day session is open to all interested stakeholders, suppliers and associations involved in this industry / space. Canada will engage industry in a discussion of the current scope of the strategy and is looking for feedback from industry with regards to:

  1. Opportunities and risks that would impact the food and beverage procurement strategy.
  2. Policy and guidance to further benefit the Indigenous communities.
  3. Government of Canada’s Green and Social initiatives.
  4. Government of Canada’s new procurement tools and practice: Electronic Procurement Solution (EPS); Electronic Tendering Services - https://canadabuys.canada.ca;Commodity Evaluation Tool (CET); Contract Modernization Initiative (CMI) and Canadian Collaborative Procurement Initiative (CCPI).
